A few things about me:

My name is Matthew and I'm one half of RGB Haus. I'm a freelance writer/blogger, designer, photographer and perpetual student. I consider most of what I do to be hobby so long as it isn't contributing to my income. Because of that, everything I do is both hobby and professional depending on how the month is going.

Despite any groaning that may occur, I don't have a set sleep schedule and I actually like it that way. There's something special about that time of night when most everyone else is sleeping, that and the fact that it's cold and eerily quiet outside.

I can honestly say that I don't particularly like the Internet -- but I can state with equal conviction that I love it, and in neither case would I be lying. The Internet is where I work, where I play, and where I am constantly reminded of how humanity is both ridiculous and beautiful at the same time. I can remember bits of my life before it was graced by the Internet, and I remember that things were much less humorous in those days. They were also much slower, since 28k modems were still considered high-end at that point.

I prefer the word Internet to the likes of 'net and Web. Some words just get ruined by overuse. A non-technical example of this aversion would be meal; It's a word that I truly dislike. I'll also never use the word hack in any technical sense, nor will I ever describe anyone as a hacker, because those words have been thoroughly ravaged by the media. The only exception would be in reference to a certain 1995 film, which is a guilty pleasure of mine.

I often joke that I'm not nearly as absolute about my political or spiritual beliefs as I am about my preference for Coke over Pepsi. I'm not really joking.

I consider bad puns to be akin to bad movies, in a sense that they're both necessities, and I love them both.

I love McDonald's food, but I'm physically unable to watch their TV ads due to a severe and violent allergic reaction to horrible advertising.

I use an Apple computer, but I also keep a netbook with Linux around. I only use Windows when I'm forced to do so, but there was a solid decade of my formative years when the situation was reversed. I do not, at the moment, use an iPhone. I used to, I just don't right now. This often confuses people who have deemed me an Apple fanboy.

I currently live in California, but I've lived in several other places across the US. At some point I plan to call London my home, but there's still time for that.
